Tick the Sani Pass Big Five!

 

This is a Thursday-Sunday weekend (20 - 23 Nov 2025) including a birding trip up Sani Pass and to grasslands, Mist-belt Forest and wetlands. The weekend is preceded by a 2-session online course.

 

Tick some really special birds with Aldo! Experience the iconic, bucket-list Sani Pass - one of South Africa's top ten birding destinations. 

 

We aim to find the local Big Five: Drakensberg Rockjumper, Drakensberg Siskin, Mountain Pipit, Bearded Vulture and Gurney's Sugarbird. And many more, including three cranes, Bush Blackcap, Barratt's Warbler and Buff-streaked Chat.

The cost of online course and guiding is R950 per person.

The two 90 mins Zoom online sessions will enhance your trip experience:

 

Session 1: Monday, 10 November 2025 at 19:00.

Birds of Sani Pass and Lesotho. 35 birds.

Session 2: Tuesday, 12 November 2025 at 19:00.

Upland grassland and Mist-belt forests. 37 birds.

 

Weekend Workshop calendar:

Thursday afternoon 20 November 2025: Arrival. Late afternoon birding session.

Friday 21 November 2025: Sani Pass day.

Saturday: 22 November 2025: Mist-belt Forest, grasslands and wetlands.

Sunday 23 November Morning: Birding and return day.
